That the Holy Spirit may inspire us to think of, speak about and do the things that would glorify God the Father and cause the salvation of souls. Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord and Friend. Amen.

Station XIV: Jesus is Buried

"Let the dead bury the dead," Jesus tells someone whom He called to become a disciple but asked permission to go home first to bury his dead father [see Luke 9: 59-60; Matthew 8: 21-22].

Let us bury our dead selves, spiritually dead selves. For we cannot proclaim the Gospel of the Lord unless we are alive, spiritually alive! Jesus the Lord died so that we may live. Let us be ready to die for Him so that others may believe that He is alive.

We must also move on from mourning to rejoicing. We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song! We must never let any sorrow weigh us down and keep us from doing what the Lord has entrusted to us: to proclaim the Gospel of His Holy Friendship: Love one another and wash each other's feet!

The Lord died and was buried. But He did not remain dead. Death had no power over Him. The place where He was buried can't even hold Him long. He rose after three days and has provided us with the hope of a new life in the Spirit. Let us enjoy this divine life in us, the grace which allows us to joyfully claim that we are God's children!

Let us lead others from death in the name of the Lord. Let them bury their dead selves and surrender their sins to the Lord so that they may also live new lives in the Lord. So that all of us may journey together to that glorious destination prepared for us since the beginning of time by the Father in the Lord Jesus Christ!
