Jesus, the Light of the World

"The Word was the real light that gives light to everyone; he was coming into the world."

 - John 1:9

Jesus said, "I am the light of world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" [John 8:12]. For in Him is life, and that life was the light of mankind [John 1:4]. He is the shining light which John mentions in 1 John 2:8 for the Lord had said, "While I am in the world, I am the light of the world" [John 9:5]. And He calls us to believe in Him that we may become children of the light [John 12:36] and remain not in darkness [John 12:46]. That we too may become light [Matthew 5:14].
