From the Beginning ... [Friday of the Seventh Week in Ordinary Time]

IN THE BEGINNING,
GOD CREATED ADAM AND EVE.

"But from the beginning of creation, 

God made them male and female."

This is the foundation of all that we believe, FROM THE BEGINNING ...

Being Christians we value what we call objective truths and these objective truths have been established by God from the beginning through the natural order of things governed by the natural laws. It is in keeping this natural order of things, nature's obedience to God's laws, that creation operate in accordance with His design. In fact, it is by obedience that creation came to be: God commanded the original FIAT: LET THERE BE ... and beings, things, came to existence. As a matter of fact, God even appointed stewards to help Him in keeping the world in order: He made Adam and Eve stewards of creation.

This natural order of things have been damaged by the first sin of mankind, of Adam and Eve: the anti-thesis of obedience, which is disobedience. Disobedience is truly damaging. Just imagine our human laws being disobeyed day in and day out. Disobedience to simple traffic laws cause deaths many times. Disobedience to simple rules and regulations in our respective communities, at school, even at home, and anywhere else, cause trouble and even enormous losses to property, finances, and many others, especially to the trust that should exist between persons. So, how much more if the disobedience is against the most important laws and objective truths that God has established in order to ensure a world that is safe, harmonious, peaceful, and most of all, holy and expressive of His love?

So it is really important to keep things in order, physically and morally, and we can do that by obedience to the laws, the rules and regulations, most especially the most basic ones we call natural laws which is significantly expressed through those principles which we call objective truths upon which are established the foundations of subsequent laws, such as human laws. Without objective truths to base upon, human laws would be based on the whims of those in power to the detriment of those who are powerless, and we shall see the world destroying itself because of the greedy policy of survival of the fittest.

From the beginning ... very important words, very important ideas. These assure us of sustaining a civilization of love and the existence of the culture of life. Without going back to the basics, without returning to the beginning, we shall be doomed to destruction. Even God won't be able to help us anymore if we reject His established laws which govern things to be in order.

Let us obey God and cooperate with His plan of restoring order which has been destroyed when our first parents sinned. He had made the initial step, that of sending His only-begotten Son to free us from the bondage to sin. It's our call now to ensure that such sacrifice does not go to waste.

Let us give glory to God through our obedience as it was in the beginning.
